Under the auspicious patronage of Late Dr Bhupendra Nath Dutt, the youngest brother of Swami Vivekananda, this puja took off in 1937. Today it’s one of the "must visit" pujas in north Calcutta.
The mandap and the surroundings sport the replica of a Bengal village home supplemented with usual illumination. Millions of visitors throng here to take a glimpse of the mandap.
The club donates a significant part of their surplus collection to social organisations. Keeping in view of the recent floods in north India, they have decided to donate the funds ear-marked for their cultural programmes to the aid of the flood-affected victims.
