| Started in 1976, today this is one of the famous Durga Pujas in south Delhi. Apart from the grandeur of the mandap and idol, this puja is popular mostly for its variety of cultural activities and competitions that start a week before the Pujas. |
| The list includes poems, music, sit and draw, fancy dress, cooking, conch blowing, musical chair, sports and even a mini volleyball tournament. A good number of participants -- from two-year-young kids up to 45-year-old veterans -- compete in these contests. |
| To add flavor to the celebration, the committee organises a variety of cultural programmes on dance, music and plays that attract a strong crowd from the adjoining areas including Greater Kailash, Kalkaji, Sheikh Sarai, Nehru Place, Alaknanda and Govindpuri. |
