| Started in 1976, today this is a "not-to-be-missed" Durga Puja in south Delhi. The puja took off under the leadership of Shri A.B. Das Gupta and Dr Ananda Mukherjee (currently, President of Kali Mandir Society, C.R. Park). |
| The rich cultural heritage of India has inspired them to house Goddess Durga each year in a replica of one of the famous places of worship. Last year it was the famous Somnath Temple of Junagadh, Gujarat. |
| Unfortunately, a devastating fire on the midnight of MahaSaptami (October 8, 1997) completely gutted the mandap and the idols. However, the untiring efforts put in by the committee members and volunteers to bring the puja back to its wheels in a couple of hours was indeed commendable. |
| To add flavor to these celebrations, the committee organises a variety of cultural programmes that attract a strong crowd from the neighbouring localities including Greater Kailash, Kalkaji, Sheikh Sarai, Nehru Place, Alaknanda and Govindpuri. |
